TRAININGS:
Blue Ridge Health Services offers several of the mandatory trainings needed for
Habilitation Technicians working in CAP/MR-DD. We offer these trainings free of charge to
any Habilitation Technician listing with our Agency and at a fair price to those outside
of our Agency.
Staff Competency Training:
This training covers elements for client rights, confidentiality, abuse, neglect,
exploitation and guardianship. It also includes elements for incident/accident reporting,
service and documentation, role/purpose/philosophy of services, cultural diversity,
overview of developmental disabilities, elements for person centered thinking and elements
for core values. This is a three hour training and requires no recertification. The
training is followed by a test in which the participant must score 80% or higher to prove
competency. Cost for staff Competency Training: Depends on the amount of staff attending
training.

NCI- Part A (Prevention only) Training
This training is a curriculum of the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities
and Substance Abuse Services. The goal of this training program is to teach skills that
help prevent the use of restraints, seclusion or isolation time out. This is a six hour
training and requires recertification annually. The training is followed by a test in
which the participant must score 80% or higher to prove competency.
